Human beings are creatures of God, made in the image of God. This means that humanity originated, not through a chance process of evolution, but through a conscious, purposeful act by God. In addition, the image of God is intrinsic and indispensable to humanity. This is what sets humanity apart from the rest of creation. Humans alone have the capability of a conscious personal relationship with the God the Creator. We have a will, emotions, and reason; we can think and act creatively; and we have the ability to interact socially with others. Being made in the image of God gives humankind the qualities which make worship of, personal interaction with, and love for God possible.
