Authentic Men

Westside Community Church is a young and growing Christ-centered, Bible-based church whose cornerstone is the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Our model is the early church; we intend to be full of purpose, a place where "everyone knows your name," sharing in fellowship and community with a mission to spread the Gospel to unbelievers. We seek to dive deeply into God's Word through verse-by-verse preaching so that we grow into maturity, becoming more like Christ.

We are led by a team of three elders:

T. K. Murphy, Lead Pastor

T. K. and his wife Tanya keep busy with their five children. As the founding family, they have been involved with WCC since starting it in their home. Tanya contributes her time to the children's and women's ministries. T. K. enjoys coaching basketball and doing construction and landscaping when he's not pastoring.

Randy Brandt

Randy and wife Joanna have five children, with two still at home. They began attending WCC because their youngest son was the worship team drummer. Randy keeps busy with his apologetics site and does web programming for a living. The rest of the time he enjoys reading, writing, playing adult ice hockey with son Michael and managing son Matt's band, Crossfire.

Jason Barnhart

Jason and his wife Cheryl have been active at WCC since arriving from Phoenix with their two daughters. Cheryl serves as a women's ministry leader and our church treasurer and Jason works in the financial industry when he's not reading or reading some more.

We believe that a Statement of Faith holds our leaders to an objective standard for teaching and practice, and creates a unity of belief and purpose in our membership. Our statement consists of four sections:

I. Catechism (17th century)
What is the chief end of man? Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever.

II. Creed (4th century)
The Nicea-Constantinople Creed of 381 A.D.

III. Solas (16th century)
The five solas of the Protestant Reformation.

IV. Doctrine
Two dozen topics based on the Abstract of Principles adopted by Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1858, with a few minor changes and several additions.

Here's a brief summary of our doctrinal beliefs:

God
We believe in one God who is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-present and unchanging; God exists as a trinity (tri-unity) of three distinct yet equal persons in one being: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, is 100% God and 100% man.

Humanity
We believe that humans are created in the image of God, but fallen into a state of spiritual death, totally lacking the ability to escape our depravity. All of humanity will spend eternity in heaven or hell.

Salvation
We believe that salvation is of the Lord. It is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone, the founder and perfecter of our faith. He was crucified as a substitute for His people, paying the penalty for their sins. He then rose from the dead, proving His deity.

Scriptures
We believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, and that it alone is the sufficient source of authority for all belief and practice.
